Have you ever felt like everything you do just falls short of whatever it is you are working towards? If you said no you are more than likely lying and it is time you accept your failures. It is normal to feel disappointed after a failure, all humans experience this feeling of dissatisfaction. While it is perfectly normal to feel disappointed when you experience failure, repeated feelings of disappointment over time can lead to stress, anxiety, which can then lead to depression.
There are a few things to remember when you feel like what you are doing isn’t enough.
- Think back on all your success. As humans, we tend to focus on the negative things when something goes wrong and forget everything we have done right. By thinking back on your successes after a failure will help you remain focus that you can and will accomplish the goal you are trying to achieve.
- Do not compare yourself. Every human is unique and goes through different trials and tribulations. Your best friend may excel at something the first try, whereas it takes you a few times to have success. And vice versa. NO two humans are the same, so stop comparing your failures and successes to other people’s.
- Remind yourself to get back up. People tend to stop trying to do something after a few failures. Giving up seems like the easy way out, but really it is the lazy way out. Always remember, no matter how hard you fall, how you get up is what others remember.
Hopefully you can keep these three tips in the back of your mind when you are feeling like enough isn’t enough. Regardless if it is a failed relationship, failed test, you got fired, etc. remembering these three things when you feel like your enough is not enough will aid you in positively enhancing your mental well-being.
Keep on, keeping on.
